About Sunshine Sue

Colorful doodles. Timeless Scripture. Everyday encouragement.

Hello, friend. I’m Suzanne Lammert, also known as Sunshine Sue.

I create hand-drawn Scripture art to offer hope, encouragement, and a gentle reminder of God’s faithfulness. Each doodle brings calligraphy, joyful color, and biblical truth together in a form that can be seen, shared, and carried into everyday life.

Before this ministry began, much of my life centered on caring for others. I worked mostly part-time as a NICU nurse for more than 22 years while my husband and I raised our five children. That same desire to comfort and encourage people now lives at the heart of every Sunshine Sue design.

Art has always been part of my story.

One of my earliest memories is sitting at a little picnic table at age three, mixing colored water in clear cups. My mother nurtured that curiosity with classes in drawing, watercolor, pastels, and acrylic painting. In sixth grade, I learned calligraphy, beginning a love of lettering that stayed with me through every season of life.

During the spring of 2020, I returned to watercolor and calligraphy. I created about 1,000 Scripture pictures, including 250 donated to a local hospital. A creative outlet became a way to place God’s Word into the hands of people who needed encouragement.

Scripture magnets shared through the magnet ministry

Small drawings grew into a ministry of encouragement.

November 30, 2020

After a friend suggested adding a little flower to my Scripture lettering, I drew my first doodle. By the following day, I had created about twenty small, baseball-card-sized designs.

The Magnet Ministry

During my husband’s serious health challenges in 2021, I saw how important it was for patients and families to have Scripture close at hand. With a hospital chaplain’s encouragement, the drawings became packaged Scripture magnets for patients. More than 1,200 magnets were shared.

January 1, 2022

I began sharing one design each day on Facebook. The Daily Doodle later expanded to Instagram, creating an online community centered on hope and God’s promises.

Today

Sunshine Sue Doodle Designs continues as an art ministry devoted to bringing biblical truth to life and helping others hold close to the comfort of Scripture.

A nickname filled with love

My dear friend Elsie was one of my greatest encouragers. She loved seeing what I was creating and affectionately called me “Sunshine Sue.” Elsie passed away shortly before I drew my first doodle, so she never saw what the ministry became. When I needed a name for it, her nickname was the only one that kept coming to mind.

Be truly glad, there is wonderful joy ahead.

God’s Word brings comfort, hope, and light.

Every Daily Doodle is made to be shared. I invite you to follow along, send an encouraging design to someone you love, and keep God’s promises close through every season.

To God be all the glory.
